The Moonfleet Experience
As you retreat from the crowds and busyness and lose yourself to this paradise, your mind will begin to wonder if this was all made just for you. Stargazers will feel their curiosity and wonder rise within their chest as they stare up into the universe uninterrupted by human light.
Sailing on a 75 foot traditional gaff rigged schooner is an inspiring and sometimes spiritual experience. You will feel the forces of the wind in the blocks and pulleys, as you help to up haul sails. Feel the magic of a neatly trimmed sail plan while you adjust the impressive helm with the lightest touch. You will gain an intimate understanding of why so many have turned to the sea to discover what they are looking for.
There's a saying in sailing ‘if she doesn’t look right, then she won’t sail right’. One look at Moonfleet’s elegant lines and raked masts quickly leaves the impression that she not only looks right, she looks perfect. She is a 75 foot, steel, gaff rigged, 3 masted schooner. Designed by naval architect Tom Colvin and built in the shipyards of Hamilton, Ontario Canada, she is as sturdy as she is elegant. Her high bulwarks and robust lifelines provide safe access to her spacious deck for working, or lounging. Two recliners and a hammock provide sanctuary for relaxing with a book and drink, or just enjoying conversation.
A 10 foot custom mahogany table located midship, hosts most meals in the relaxing Bahama breezes. Her proud bluff bow prys the turquoise waters with elegance and power simultaneously. Aft you find a spacious push pit. This is where the mighty helm resides and the vessel is steered. Solar panels above both protect the push pit from the sun and rain, while producing quiet, clean energy for below deck comforts. Souring 55 feet skywards are Moonfleet’s lovely raked masts giving the impression of speed, even while she lies still. Up to five iconic white sails harness the breeze and pull Moonfleet with seeming ease. Below decks are 2 well appointed cabins forward and 1 crew cabin aft. You'll find a private double berth midship. There is a restroom (head) in the bow of the vessel. The shower is roomy and separate from the toilet and sink (no sitting on the toilet while you shower off with the sink faucet). The galley has classic clean lines and accommodates everyone around a cozy table for a tasty meal, or fun game. There are bunks for guests located both starboard and port in the galley. In her engine room, located midships, you find an impressive commercial (Bauer) air compressor that provides unlimited air to certified divers. 30 gallons per hour of fresh water from the water maker, along with the hot water tank provide for refreshing showers. Her chests on deck contain all the snorkeling equipment you’ll need. There is also a kayak and 4 paddle boards.
